What to Expect at TWC’s National Security Seminar 2024

The Washington Center’s annual exploration of the most pressing issues in national and domestic security policy is a unique opportunity to build knowledge, engage with individuals and institutions of influence and develop networks for professional growth.

As threats and opportunities constantly evolve, TWC is focused on building programming that is relevant and forward-looking. We’re committed to helping empower future leaders with the skills and insights to address the most important threats and shape solutions for a safer, stronger future.

Themes for National Security Seminar 2024

Global Issues

From ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and beyond, to the continued rise of China’s influence, to climate security, global supply chain and more, it’s imperative we explore a global security landscape and the ways it is influenced from D.C. and the USA.

Domestic Concerns

Our security within the U.S. is increasingly challenged by both external and internal forces. We’ll explore critical topics such as hate crimes and extremist groups, election security, freedom of speech, the role of social media and more.

Technology Opportunities & Threats

Generative AI is already defining our future, whether we know it yet or not. As tools advance and become more integrated into our daily lives, the opportunity for harm grows as much as the positive. Combined with increasingly sophisticated cybersecurity threats from state and non-state actors, an understanding of the role technology plays in security is critical.

Career Opportunities for Future Success

TWC seminars are not only an opportunity to explore key topics in up-close ways, they also provide a chance to deepen career pathways. There will be plenty of opportunity to build networks, understand important elements like the security clearance processes, how to connect into internships, the importance of diversity and access and more.
