TWC provides an integrated experience that transforms theory into practice, ambition into purpose and potential into achievement. What's Unique About a TWC Experience? What We Do TWC offers a unique experience for students and recent graduates to participate in an internship program that integrates professional work experience with leadership development and civic engagement. Participants are guaranteed a substantive internship closely related to their field of study in the D.C. metro area. Our two offerings for international students are the Academic Internship Program (AIP) and the Global Competencies Program, both of which are held in the spring and fall semesters and feature a tailored internship alongside professional programming activities. AIP is also offered during the summer. Internship* The main component of AIP is a substantive internship. TWC's staff matches students with an internship specific to their academic and professional interests. TWC is a J-1 visa sponsor and will handle all visa-related paperwork for you. • Students intern Monday through Thursday for 32-36 hours each week. • Internships are offered in virtually all fields and sectors, including non-profits, think tanks, and NGOs. • Students receive a comprehensive evaluation of their experience from their program advisor and internship site supervisor. In addition to the internship, AIP also offers the following components: • Evening Course: Students take an evening course once per week. Students choose the course from a wide range of options, similar to courses taught on campus. • Professional Programming: Meets every Friday and consists of various special activities for students to contextualize what they learn at their internships. We also offer professional workshops during the week. • Portfolio: Throughout the program, students build a portfolio showcasing what they've learned and illustrating their professional journey. * Specific internship information and terms of conditions of your internship will be provided during the internship placement process. Stipends, scholarships or wages may not cover all living expenses and participants are advised to bring additional personal funds. You must also certify that you have a valid health insurance policy to comply with U.S. Department of State regulations.
