Out-of-Network Information Sheet While The Washington Center staff support you through the internship search, you are also able to apply externally to internship sites outside of our network (sites we do not have a partnership with). You can apply to out-of- network sites within the D.C. area by researching potential organizations and applying to their internship programs online. In order to determine if a potential internship site is within the TWC network, simply reach out to your Program Advisor! twc.edu In order for an employer to partner with The Washington Center, there are specific requirements an internship and employer must follow: • The internship must be Monday-Friday • The internship should not run later than 6:00 pm, so that you can get to your TWC evening class • If it is in-person/ hybrid, the employer must be able to offer you a minimum of 32 hours of work per week, in order to receive academic credit. If the opportunity is virtual/ remote, the employer must be able to offer you 20-32 hours of work per week • The site must be aware of and adhere to TWC program internship start and end dates • The employer must complete a final evaluation Prior to receiving or accepting an out-of-network internship offer, it is your responsibility to ensure that any out-of-network site is aware of your participation in TWC's program and can adhere to the requirements above. Once you have scheduled an interview or are interviewing with the out-of- network employer, you are required to provide the following information to your Program Advisor over email: • Internship Site Name • Site Point of Contact Name • Site Point of Contact Title • Phone Number • Email Address • Physical Address • Remote or In Person Internship Your Program Advisor will keep that information on file in case we need to get in touch with the employer. If you receive an internship offer from the out-of-network site, you are required to notify your Program Advisor as soon as possible. Our office will then contact the employer to confirm they can meet the above internship requirements. Once we can confirm this, your Program Advisor will let you know that you can move forward to accept the internship offer and be placed! If you are interested in applying to out-of-network sites or have already applied to these sites, please contact your Program Advisor!
