Course Syllabus Fall 2024 Career Readiness Program The Washington Center was founded on the belief that the right experience, whether in- person or virtual, can transform students' lives–setting them on a course of achievement and leadership. That is why we immerse qualified college students and professionals in our uniquely intense and productive working and learning program. Our mission is to provide students with transformational experiences that foster academic and professional achievement, career development, and personal growth. The purpose of the Fall 2024 Career Readiness Program is to promote personal and professional growth in interns achieved through a comprehensive series of professional development opportunities, career exploration events, and individual advising. The Career Readiness Program will ask interns to connect with professionals in their field, expand their networks, aggregate marketable work samples from their internship, and reflect on future goals and professional aspirations. Program Learning Goals During the Fall 2024 Career Readiness Program students will be able to participate in challenging, interactive, and thought-provoking experiences that will help them: • Demonstrate professionalism, communication skills, and self-awareness necessary to excel in a virtual work environment. • Refine and enhance their career readiness skills through participation in a robust series of professional development sessions and workshops. • Expand and define their professional networks and define career goals through participation in carefully designed career exploration and network activities. Personalizing The Student Experience Students will have the opportunity to maximize their time with The Washington Center by following specific learning pathways throughout the semester. These pathways are designed as blueprints of sorts that will allow students to engage with events, assignments, and advising sessions in ways that are personally meaningful and appreciative of their scope of career readiness. Please review the Pathways page for additional information.
