Sawyeh Esmaili Sawyeh Esmaili, Senior Counsel at the National Women's Law Center, contributes to the Reproductive Rights and Health team's policy work on abortion access. Sawyeh was previously a contract attorney for Just Futures Law, where she contributed to federal policy campaigns against ICE and CBP's use of surveillance technology; an Equal Justice Works Fellow and later Staff Attorney for the Detention Program at Americans for Immigrant Justice, where she represented adults detained in ICE custody in immigration and conditions of confinement matters; and an If/When/How Fellow at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, where she contributed to NLIRJ's federal policy work at the intersection of immigrant rights and reproductive justice. Saturday, September 28, 2024 Clarke Wheeler Clarke Wheeler (she/her) is a Senior Policy Analyst on the Reproductive Rights and Health team at the National Women's Law Center. In this role, she engages social justice movements and policymakers in the fight for abortion access on the state level. Previously, she was the Federal Policy Manager at Black Mamas Matter Alliance, where she collaborated with Black-led organizations and multidisciplinary professionals to craft and implement federal policy strategies that advance Black maternal health. She has worked on the government relations team at Planned Parenthood of New York City (now Greater New York), served as an Urban Fellow in the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection Office of Financial Empowerment, and participated in several public service fellowships and programs. Clarke received her Master in Public Affairs (MPA) from Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs and her Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies and Political Science from Barnard College. Emily A. Ferguson Emily A. Ferguson is a Professional Staff Member for the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee for Chairman Peters and leads the cybersecurity, election security, critical infrastructure and emerging technology portfolio. Before joining the Committee, she worked for the Atlantic Council's Cyber Statecraft Initiative and her published research includes "This Job Post Will Get You Kidnapped: A Deadly Cycle of Crime, Cyberscams, and Civil War in Myanmar" along with other projects at the intersection of technology and national security. Previously she worked for various defense contracting companies as an intelligence analyst and served as a language analyst for the U.S. Army from 2014-2019. Emily Ferguson has a Bachelor of Arts in international relations from George Mason University and a Master of Arts in security studies from Georgetown University Cristina Boccuti Cristina Boccuti is Vice President of Health Security at the AARP Public Policy Institute. In this role, she leads a team of senior health policy professionals to deliver research and analysis that drives and supports the public policy priorities, advocacy efforts, issue campaigns, and communication activities that advance AARP's work on behalf of older adults. Before joining AARP, Boccuti served as Director of Health Policy at West Health, where she led strategic research and analysis on federal and commercial health care spending and Medicare-related issues, including out-of-pocket costs, access to care, provider payment, quality measures for geriatric care, and health workforce. Prior to West Health, she was an Associate Director at the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), where she analyzed Medicare reform proposals as part of a major initiative on the future of Medicare. Boccuti has also held senior positions at the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the Government Accountability Office (GAO), and The Urban Institute. Before transitioning to health policy, Boccuti was a speech-language pathologist at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago.She completed her graduate studies at Georgetown University and George Washington University and her undergraduate studies at Cornell University.
