J-1 Visa Requirements TWC is a designated J-1 Visa sponsor by the U.S. State Department and sponsors a J-1 Visa for international students attending or recently graduated from a university in a foreign country. In order to obtain a J-1 Visa, you must be accepted into our Academic Internship Program and: • Be enrolled in a foreign degree- or certificate-granting university outside the U.S. OR have graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months prior to the program start date. Alternatively, you may have a degree or professional certificate from a foreign university and at least one year of work experience in your field. • Demonstrate sufficient English proficiency to succeed in the program. • Plan to leave the U.S. within 30 days after completion of the program. Dates & Deadlines Summer 2026 • Application Deadline: December 3, 2025 • D.C. Check-In: May 27, 2026 • Internship Period: June 1 – July 31, 2026 • D.C. Check-Out: August 1, 2026 Fall 2026 • Application Deadline: March 18, 2026 • D.C. Check-In: August 26, 2026 • Internship Period: August 31 – December 4, 2026 • D.C. Check-Out: December 5, 2026 Housing & Life in D.C. While living in TWC's furnished intern housing, you'll be within walking distance of the National Mall and the best that D.C. has to offer, not to mention essentials like grocery stores and the Metro. Even better, you'll be part of a built-in community of fellow interns from across the U.S. and around the world, making it easy to connect and explore your new city together. D.C. is also a transportation hub for much of the eastern U.S., meaning you can easily explore other cities on the weekend!
