twc.edu Bruce Jones Senior Fellow, The Brookings Institution Bruce Jones is a senior fellow with the Strobe Talbott Center for Security, Strategy, and Technology in the Foreign Policy program at the Brookings Institution; he also works with the Center for Asia Policy Studies. He is also a consulting professor at the Freeman Spogli Institute at Stanford University. From 2015 to 2020, Jones previously served as the vice president and director for the Foreign Policy program. Jones' research expertise and policy experience is in international security. His current research focus is on U.S. strategy, international order, and great power relations. Jones has conducted research focused on the geopolitics of energy and climate change. Jones has extensive experience and expertise in intervention and crisis management. He served in the United Nations' operation in Kosovo and was special assistant to the U.N. special coordinator for the Middle East peace process. He has also served in advisory positions for the U.S. State Department and the World Bank on fragile states, including as senior external advisor to the World Bank's "2011 World Development Report on Conflict, Security and Development." He holds a doctorate from the London School of Economics, and he was the Hamburg fellow in conflict prevention at Stanford University. Vidhya Ramalingam Founder and CEO, Moonshot Vidhya is the Founder and CEO of Moonshot, a company that works to end online harms, applying evidence, ethics and human rights. Moonshot develops and deploys technology to understand and prevent online violence across the globe. Their work includes critical support to institutions and individuals facing online abuse; partnerships with global governments to offer lifesaving services to people considering violence; and collaborations with tech companies like Spotify and Google to ensure safer user experiences. Vidhya's work to fight violence online is rooted in the fundamental belief that people can change. Sen. Mike Rounds U.S. Senator Senator Mike Rounds has represented South Dakota in the U.S. Senate since 2015 and serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. He previously served as South Dakota's 31st governor (2003–2011), where he focused on economic development, education, and workforce retention. Before becoming governor, Rounds spent nearly a decade in the South Dakota State Senate. His leadership extended to national roles, including chairing the Western Governors Association and serving on the Council of Governors. A champion of bipartisan policy, he has also contributed to national efforts on health and immigration reform.Senator Rounds holds a degree in political science from South Dakota State University. He and his wife Jean have four children and ten grandchildren. Michael Sharnoff Associate Professor, National Defense University Michael Sharnoff is an Associate Professor at the National Defense University's Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies. In this role, he organizes, moderates, and delivers lectures and seminars on topics related to the politics and security of the Middle East. He has taught at Georgetown University, and prior to joining NESA, he served as Associate Professor of Middle East Studies and Director of Regional Studies at the Daniel Morgan Graduate School of National Security. While at DMGS, Dr. Sharnoff taught graduate courses on the Arab-Israeli conflict and the history and politics of the modern Middle East. He received a PhD in Middle East Studies from King's College, London and is the author of Nasser's Peace: Egypt's Response to the 1967 War with Israel (Routledge, 2017).
