Madonna University Chooses The Washington Center as D.C.-Based Internship Partner

TWC selected from among several area options to lead students on life-changing internships

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Madonna University, a Catholic institution of higher learning in Livonia, Michigan, and The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC) announce a new strategic partnership to offer student internships. Part of the private liberal arts school’s mission includes integrating career preparation into the student experience. This partnership will provide Madonna University students the opportunity to gain such invaluable career preparation in Washington, D.C.

We are excited and proud to be new partners with The Washington Center. This internship program will provide tremendous experiential learning opportunities, real-life work experience and semester course credit for our students.

Dr. Michael A. Grandillo, president, Madonna University

The internship program will be headquartered in Madonna University’s Political Science department. The university intends to make participating in TWC’s Academic Internship Program an integral component of their new American Politics concentration. Students will receive 15 Political Science credits for their semester in D.C. Three credit hours are to be awarded for the internship itself, with the remaining 12 credit hours awarded for participation in the evening course and TWC’s LEAD professional development.

“We are excited and proud to be new partners with The Washington Center,” said Dr. Michael A. Grandillo, president, Madonna University. “This internship program will provide tremendous experiential learning opportunities, real-life work experience and semester course credit for our students.”

Madonna University’s selection of TWC was based on several factors, including an extensive internship network, industry-leading evaluation tools, comprehensive student support and the recommendation of peer institutions.

“The Washington Center is grateful to be Madonna University’s selection as its D.C. internship partner,” said Chris Norton, president, The Washington Center. “We appreciate the extensive search and thorough consideration Madonna University undertook in making this decision. We look forward to a prosperous relationship with Madonna University while helping its students gain valuable professional experience in the epicenter of American politics.”

Madonna University students will have the option to participate during their Fall, Winter or Summer semesters, which coincide with TWC Fall, Spring and Summer terms. The first cohort of intern participants is expected in Summer 2021.
